1. Often, corsets. a woman's close-fitting undergarment, worn about the waist and hips to support or shape the body. A corset is usually made of elasticized material, stiffened with bone or boning, provided with garters, and fastened with a zipper or laces. SYNONYM(S): stays.
2. Obsolete. a close-fitting outer garment, especially a laced bodice.
